I was scouring the web this week looking for DIY ideas for place cards. There are so many out there that I thought I'd pick one theme for this blog: French vintage.

French-Inspired

If you aren't knowledgeable in Photoshop, there are great websites out there with FREE templates of table number cards, place cards and more! The Wedding Style Guide Magazine has put together a package of romantic, pastel-colored inspiration for you. Here are their pretty parisian templates. Cut small slits at the top and bottom of the table number cards and tie around the head chair at each table with a decorative ribbon.

Ribbons and Lace

Martha Stewart has an overwhelming amount of templates, clip art and instructions. I personally like her Beribboned Escort Card Board. Her instructions come with a template for your place cards. This project is a simple piece of plywood wrapped in strands of fabric and ribbon. Print out the place cards and hang over the ribbon. Add a vase of flowers or a few candles around the base and you have a decorative guest board.

If it's in your budget to purchase place cards, check out these delicate lace cards by B Studio.

I'm sure you could create your own version of these by purchasing lace, beads, glue and cardstock. Print the names on a full sheet of cardstock first, cut out the place cards, fold and glue on the details. I found a DIY blog post for a similar vintage lace place card at Project Wedding.

Flowers

I've recently come across several Etsy shops selling paper flower place cards. These lovely one of a kind flowers are from Carrie Klein's shop. She personally designs her flowers to match your wedding colors and style. Don't you just love the delicate butterfly perched on every flower?

If you are interested in a DIY approach, Martha Stewart has a post on how to make fabric roses and peonies. I also found a new blog called, The Bride's Café! They had a fantastic post on DIY- Crepe Paper Flowers. Check out this beautiful bouquet.

I absolutely love the beaded centers. You could easily adapt these flowers to be place card holders!

If you are looking for a simple place card alternative that not only looks great but takes little to no time to make, check out these framed vintage place cards posted on Style Me Pretty. You can find these frames at Favor Warehouse for $1.65 each in pink, blue and cream!

One last idea for you and probably one of my favorites! I found this idea on a Pinterest wedding board. Tie your guest's place cards to old keys with decorative ribbon. You can find skeleton keys on Ebay for under $1 a piece!
