Shine On
The Fashionable Photographer | A "Must Have" Accessory
I am taking a quick break from all the wedding and bridal blogs to write about something near to my heart, photography and fashion. For all you lady photogs out there, what options do we have for carrying our gear around while still looking feminine and professional? Not only do we need to carry our camera lenses, but also the basic necessities like lip gloss, Kleenex, compact, cell phone, etc. I don't know about you, but toting a black or grey backpack around is not my style.
My husband, well fiance at the time, purchased me a SHOOTSAC for my birthday back in 2010. I absolutely love it and use it on all my photography shoots. Bless his heart, he even purchased a baroque cover for me! He knows the way to my heart! The only trouble with the SHOOTSAC, is that it's not meant for traveling. When I travel for destination weddings or locally here in Virginia, packing my gear and lugging it in a suitcase just isn't cutting it for me. I need a fabulous, yet functional carry-all bag designed for the female photographer.
I've done my shopping online and here are a few of my favorites! These are great for the photography hobbyist or a pro.
Jill-E Designs - $40 - $400
Jill-E Designs has a number of styles, sizes and prints to choose from. Everything from laptop totes, small to extra-large carry-all bags, messenger bags, backpacks and day bags. Here are my favorites!

This small yellow nylon camera/carry-all bag is weather-resistant and can hold a DSLR camera body with 2 moderately sized lenses with extra space for batteries, memory cards and personal items.

This rolling black suede gear bag carries up to a 17" laptop, 1 to 2 DSLR cameras, 1 telephoto and 2 to 3 moderately sized lenses. It even has a telescoping handle and rollers so you don't have to carry it around! I love that this holds a 17" laptop. I have one and I can never find anything that will hold it! I thought I was going to have to purchase something smaller just for traveling purposes!
Dre Hartmann Camera Bags - $200
Dre Hartmann Camera Bags are made out of 100% cotton canvas with genuine leather details. They are a relatively new business with just a few style options.

This Liza Studded Satchel is absolutely gorgeous! It's hard to believe that inside of this beauty are compartments for a DSLR camera with an attached lens, up to 2 to 3 more lenses and other photography essentials!

I think I am in love! This blue and white Monaco Satchel reminds me of the Caribbean, Greece and travel. Not only is the color appealing, but the interior has so much space it will fit everything I need for my next vacation! A DSLR camera, 2 lenses, a flash and other photo accessories! It fits perfectly in the overhead bins on airplanes and even under the airline seats!
Epiphanie - $154 - $184
Epiphanie has 5 styles of functional, versatile girly camera bags. They are made out of water-resistant, high quality synthetic leather. Check out the beautiful colors and styles of my top choices!

This beautiful, turquoise bag, called the Lola, has a removable cross-body strap with extra padding for support. According to Corey Ann, a wedding and lifestyle photographer from North Canton, OH, the Lola can hold a camera body, 3 lenses, a flash, batteries, chargers and an extra compact camera.

This Pink Clover camera bag fits just about everything you would need for a small photo shoot or a vacation adventure. As the picture shows, it can hold a camera body, up to 3 moderate lenses, a flash, batteries, chargers, cables, filters and hoods. It even has pockets for your wallet, phone and keys. If packaged just right, you might even be able to fit an iPad or small laptop!
While the price for these feminine camera bags may seem a bit pricey, think of the versatility. It's a purse and camera bag in one! Which bag is going on your wish list?
