As the bride, you have budgeted countless dollars for your wedding dress, mani and pedi’s, makeup and hair. You want to look your very best on the most important day of your life. This is a day you will want to remember. Hiring a qualified, professional photographer will guarantee you great photos of the day. However, it's not just the photographer's responsibility to capture your perfect bridal look. Here are a few posing questions I've received from brides. These tips will help you pull off the perfect bridal portraits and make it look easy! Your photographer will certainly appreciate it too.

What do I do if I feel awkward in front of the camera?

Be comfortable. Feel free to adjust the pose the photographer puts you in so that you are relaxed and natural. If you aren’t, you’ll see it in the photos later.

What do I do with my hands?

Place a hand on your hip. This will make your waste appear thinner. You can also keep your arms at your side. However, keep your arms slightly away from your body. Feel free to place your hand on a nearby tree, column, chair, etc.

How do I pose the rest of my body?

It's all about angles. Never, never, never face the camera straight on. Instead, turn your body 45 degrees toward the photographer. Point your front foot at the photographer and place your weight on your back leg. Lean forward slightly and drop your chin about ½”. One last word of advice, don’t forget to suck that tummy in and keep good posture.

Where do I look?

Keeping your head angled, try looking at the photographer out of the corner of your eye. A few other options are to look entirely away from the camera, down or in the direction of the photographer. Each of these will give you much more character and personality in your photos.

I hope this introduction to bridal posing helps you out! These tips work great for any time you are in front of the camera as well.
